What is a Blocklist?

The Blocklist (or Blacklist) is a list of devices that are permanently restricted from accessing the wireless network.

What is the Whitelist

The Whitelist is a list of devices that are permanently exempt from requiring to authenticate via the portal page. These devices may be automatically connected upon entering the venue, they may even have their own service tier.

How do i add a device to the Whitelist or Blocklist

To add a device to the Whitelist or Blacklist, select the device from the initial table on the Connected Now Dashboard (fig 1). A modal will pop-up (fig 2), from here navigate to the Permanently Whitelist/Blacklist section. Simply click on the dropdown to select either Blacklist or Whitelist and add a description for transparency. Click save.

How do i logout a device from the network?

To logout a device from the wireless network select the device from the initial table on the Connected Now Dashboard (fig 1). A modal will pop-up (fig 2), from here navigate to the Device Info section at the top of the modal. On the right-hand side there is a red Logout button. Click to logout the device.

Why make a device browser-less?

Some wireless devices do not have web browser capability, or they require an app from another device to authenticate. By marking a device as browser-less within the platform (fig 2.) it will bypass usual authentication methods and be connected to the WiFi. Some common devices that do not have Captive Portal capability include: Wireless Printers, certain Game Consoles, IoT Smart Sticks, Wireless Fridges and Wireless Sound Systems.

Why can i not see pending devices?

Pending devices are only seen when a supported gateway is configured to push clients to the system

How do i find a device?

If you are looking for a device in the system, you can use the search function at the top of the table on the initial Connected Now dashboard (Fig 1.) You can search by any information that has been captured by the system (MAC address, Guest Data, Label ect…)

Devices

What is a label?

A label is essentially the action that will take place when a device is on the whitelist or blacklist.

How do i setup a label?

Navigate to the ‘Device Rules’ tab and click ‘Add Label’ which is located at the top left of the page. Click add label -> Create a discernible name (i.e blocklist/whitelist) -> ensure it is tagged to the brand/site that you wish the rule to take effect.

How do I send a message to blocklisted users?

You can display a simple text message to users who have been placed on the blocklist and are unable to log on. This is achieved by navigating to the ‘Device Rules’ tab and clicking on a created blocklist label (see: How do I setup a label?).
Ensure the action associated with the label is set to ‘Blocklist’ and click within the ‘Portal Message’ content box. Here you may enter the text that will appear when a device associated with the blocklist tried to login through the portal.

How do i associate a whitelist with a service tier?

Devices that are on a whitelist can bypass the usual service tiers tied to the guest WiFi and be placed on one exclusive to devices on the whitelist.
Navigate to the ‘Device Rules’ tab and select your previously setup whitelist label (see: How do I setup a label?). Ensure the ‘Action’ is set to ‘Bypass Service Tier’ and then select the service tier you wish Whitelisted devices to be placed on.

How do i bulk import devices to a Blocklist/Whitelist?

You can import .CSV lists into the system to quickly add devices to a blacklist/whitelist.
To do this, navigate to either the ‘Blocklist’ or ‘Whitelist’ tab and click ‘Import’. You will be presented with a modal with three boxes. These three boxes represent the columns on your .CSV, and so your .CSV should reflect these columns.
The columns are: MAC, DESCRIPTION, BROWSERLESS DEVICE (0/1).
Mac: The Mac address of the device you wish to add to the list
Description: A simple description that will be associated with the device (i.e Problem device/VIP user)
Browserless Device (0/1): Whether the device is browser-less or now. (1 = Yes | 0 = No)

Guests

How do i create a voucher?

Navigate to the ‘Guest Tab’ and click on ‘Vouchers’. Click ‘Add’ which is found at the top left of the screen. A modal will be displayed. Input a username and password that the guest will need to enter prior to login and append the voucher code to a service tier. Click save.

How do i upload a batch of vouchers?

Navigate to the ‘Guest Tab’ and click on ‘Vouchers’. Click ‘Generate’. Specify the amount of vouchers you wish to generate and the service tier they will be appended to. Now is time to create your username and password. First, specify the length (number of characters) that your username/password will be. Then, select the type of characters that will be used (Alphanumeric, Numeric, Alphabetic), finally select whether your username/password will be Uppercase, Lowercase or mixed. Click generate.

How do i log out a guest out, or delete a guest, from the system?

Navigate to the ‘Guest Tab’ and click on ‘Registered Guests’. Search for the guest you wish to logout by filtering by Name, Mac Address, Username, Service Tier or Email Address. Clicking on the guest information will reveal the guest account details. ‘Logout’ and ‘Delete’ are present at the bottom of the screen.

How do i overwrite a service tier?

Navigate to the ‘Guest Tab’ and click on ‘Registered Guests’. Search for the guest you wish to place on a different Service Tier by filtering by Name, Mac Address, Username, Service Tier or Email Address. Clicking on the guest information will reveal the guest account details.
There are two ways to overwrite a service tier.

  1. In General, find the ‘Service Tier’ subheading and click ‘Upgrade Tier’. This will allow you to specify another service tier for the guest to use.
  2. Navigate to the ‘Tier Overwrite’ tab. Within this tab you get granular control over the guest’s service tier and edit things such as End Date, Bandwidth and redirect URL.

How do i see what version of Terms & Conditions a guest has accepted?

Navigate to the ‘Guest Tab’ and click on ‘Registered Guests’. Search for the guest you wish to check the Terms of Use against by filtering by Name, Mac Address, Username, Service Tier or Email Address. Clicking on the guest information will reveal the guest account details.
Navigate to the ‘Usage’ subtab and click on ‘Terms of Use’. Here you can see the record of all versions of T&Cs that the guest has accepted.

How do I see what devices are associated with a guest?

Navigate to the ‘Guest Tab’ and click on ‘Registered Guests’. Search for the guest you wish to check devices for by filtering by Name, Mac Address, Username, Service Tier or Email Address. Clicking on the guest information will reveal the guest account details.
Navigate to the ‘Devices’ subtab. Here you can see a list of all devices registered to the guest’s account.

Portal Templates

The portal templates give the user access to functions and designs that are not editable on the portal dashboard. The portal templates are accessed through the ‘Settings’ menu on the dashboard. It is recommended that you duplicate the template before starting to edit in the event you need to revert and start again, this Is easily done by hitting clone on the default template.

How do i change the colour of a button on the portal?

  1. Hit CTRL+F to open the search bar
  2. Search for ‘.button {’
  3. Find ‘Background-Color:’
  4. Enter the HEX or RGB code or simply spell out the colour you want
  5. Ensure the colour ends with a semi colon

How do i remove the border of a button?

  1. Hit CTRL+F to open the search bar
  2. Search for ‘.button’
  3. Find ‘border: 1px solid rgba (0,0,0,1);’
  4. Replace ‘1px solid rgba (0,0,0,1)’ with ‘None;’
  5. Ensure the colour ends with a semi colon

How do i add a hover transition to a button?

  1. Hit CTRL+F to open the search bar
  2. Search for ‘.button:hover’
How do i change the button colour when hovered over?

How do i change the transition speed when hovered over?
