ACS Reporting

To configure the system to report data to the Acentic ACS system, please follow the following process.

It saves a lot of time if you set the ACS credentials as the very first thing after creating the site, before you create any switches, bandwidth areas, circuits etc.

Initial Setup

  • Preferably, choose your site with the selector at the top right first.
  • Go to the Site Settings page:
    • Click the top right menu
    • Click "Settings"
    • Choose the "Site Settings" icon
  • Select the Site/Site Tag you wish to set up.
  • Open the "Custom" section at the bottom.
  • Add the following parameters:
    • ACS = The ACS TLA/Site Code
    • ACS_USER = The ACS API username for the site
    • ACS_PASS = The ACS API password for the site

Configure Bandwidth Areas

  • Ensure you have a site selected
  • Go to the settings menu and choose the "Bandwidth Areas" icon
  • Choose to add a new bandwidth area at the top
  • Fill in the fields. Ensure you enter a value for bandwidths.

Configure Circuits

  • Ensure you have a site selected
  • Go to the settings menu and choose the "Circuits" icon
  • Choose to add a new circuit at the top
  • Fill in the fields. Ensure you enter a value for bandwidths.

Configure at least one Switch/Router

  • Ensure you have a site selected
  • Go to the Network tab on the left
  • Add a new device
  • Choose an appropriate vendor
  • Ensure you enter device type of Switch or Router
  • Ensure you set an IP Address
    • This must be reachable from the Connector for polling
  • Ensure you set a valid SNMP community string
  • Save the device

Add Switch Ports

  • Within the network tab, select the device you just created
  • Find the "Switch Ports" section
  • Add a switch port that, when monitored, will provide bandwidth statistics for the circuit or bandwidth area you need
    • e.g. Select the WAN uplink port for a circuit
    • Or the SVI on a gateway for the VLAN terminating all conference traffic
  • Set the "Number on Switch" to the SNMP Index ID of the interface you want data for
  • Set the "Circuit" and/or "Bandwidth Area" to match the one you just created
  • Repeat for any additional areas

Runtime

  • Ensure the polling agent is running on the connector
  • This should start to send ACS data for the switch ports you have marked
